can also find many uninhabited places that are definitely worth attention and visiting.

1. KOZJAK WATERFALL

The magnificent Kozjak Waterfall is probably one of the most scenic hidden nature spots to visit in Slovenia.

The Kozjak Stream with waterfalls is a protected natural treasure. Even though the Kozjak
Waterfall is an excellent destination for a walk in the hot summer days, because the steep
walls preserve the pleasant coolness and slightly lower temperatures, the pool under the
waterfall is not suitable for bathing. How to get to the Kozjak Waterfall? Access is simple
and also suitable for families. On your way from Kobarid, in the direction of the Drežnica
village, follow the turning for Napoleon’s bridge over the Soča River. The Kozjak Waterfall,

Velika planina is the site of one of Europe’s few surviving high mountain shepherd’s villages
where traditional Alpine shepherd’s culture is still alive. This scenic high mountain plateau,
part of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, is famous for its stunning natural beauty. Its landscape,
characterized by vast pastures and numerous karst phenomena such as valleys and cavities,
is criss-crossed with an extensive network of hiking routes.

4. POKLJUKA PLATEAU

Pokljuka is a high karst plateau on the eastern edge of Triglav National Park

Pokljuka is a forested high karst plateau in the Julian Alps. It is the largest rounded forest
area in the Triglav National Park. It is 20 km long and almost as wide. In the range from 1000
to 1400 meters there are about 6300 hectares of forest in which spruce predominates. The
varied surface of hidden abysses, overgrown edges and sinkholes and valleys is a remnant of
the Pokljuka glacier. Behind it are the Pokljuka bogs and swampy, difficult to cross forest
areas. The bogs are among the southernmost high bogs in Europe.

the Slovenian alpine pearl, among top ten best destinations to visit in Europe. The
Municipality of Bohinj is one of the most breathtaking municipalities in the Republic of
Slovenia. The municipality has a large territory in the valley of the Sava Bohinjka with a
narrow gorge, Nomenjski kotlič, Lower Bohinj valley, the southern shore of Lake Bohinj, the
Upper Bohinj valley and areas on the plateaus of Pokljuka and Jelovica. Bohinj is the right
destination for all outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, alpinists, cyclists, lover of water or winter

6. LIPICA

Lipica Stud Farm was the first in the world to breed the Lipizzaner horses.

Lipica is a village in the Municipality of Sežana and the most important Slovenian equestrian
center on the karst plateau, along the road SEžana-border crossing Lipica. In the incredible
natural surroundings, amidst fairytale meadows in the shade of oak and chestnut trees,
beautiful and charming white horses await you. The most amazing sight is when they
gracefully race across meadows in a group. Of course, a visit to the stud farm, the wonderful
Lipikum museum and a show of classical riding school are a must. Lipica Stud Farm is the
birthplace and 'cradle' of Lipizzaner horses. It has had its ups and downs during its 400 years history, but today it is a cultural landmark of national importance and a home to almost 400 amazing Lipizzaner horses.

7. HRASTOVLJE

Holy Trinity Church is impressive stone structure that was built before 1500 and contains a world-famous Danse Macabre fresco.

Under the walls of the karst edge of Slovenian Istria, in the village of
Hrastovlje, among the vineyards and olive groves you will notice a small stone church of the
Holy Trinity. Its interesting exterior will attract your attention, while interior contains the
most extensive preserved medieval paintings, led by the famous Dance of the Dead. The
church was built in the 15 th century, and about 100 years later a wall with two defensive
towers was built to defend it against the Turks. The architecture of the church is very
interesting, both the roof and the walls are made of stone.
