Itinerary

Stop 1Bled/Ljubljana

Slovenian Seaside Day Trip begins in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.

Stop 2Socerb

With a magnificent view over the Gulf of Trieste, Socerb Castle is built on the ruins of an Illyrian hill-fort. So it successfully withstood the northern wind bora and also ravages of time for centuries. It is first mentioned in 1040 and named after the patron saint of Trieste St. Socerb. The castle expanded during the Middle Ages. Because of its excellent geographic position it used to be a constant target in the wars between the Venice and the people of Trieste.

Stop 3Hrastovlje (Holy Trinity Church)

On Slovenian Seaside Tour we will also visit Church of Holy Trinity that stands on a small elevation overlooking the village and was sanctified in 1475. The interior of the Holy Trinity Church preserves a beautiful cycle of late medieval and Renaissance exceptional frescoes. They are the most well-known cycle in the Slovenian part of Istria.

Stop 4Sečovlje (salt pans)

First record of salt production dates in 804 owned by monasteries in Piran. Active since the 13th century, the Sečovlje Salt Pans now produce salt in order to preserve natural and culture heritage. Despite the modern technologies salt is still produced traditionally In these Mediterranean salt-pans,. They use classical salt-pan methods and tools, which is the reason why salt has retained its very special taste and also exceptional characteristics. Area of the Sečovlje Salina Landscape Park covers over 1,600 acres. The saltworks represent the largest Slovenian salt evaporation ponds and they are also home to number plant and animal species, up to 270 species of birds.

Stop 5Piran

Piran is one of Slovenia’s best preserved historic towns and therefore the highlight of Slovenian Seaside Tour. It is built on peninsula surrounded by the Adriatic on three sides and also contains many beautiful historic buildings, both from the period of Venetian. Take a walk along the seaside through its narrow medieval streets, look around, visit the churches and the main square named after Giuseppe Tartini, a famous violinist and a composer born in Piran.

Stop 6Koper

Koper is largest Slovenian seaside town. Your first impression may be underwhelming as you see the port and all the industrial areas on the outskirts. But Koper’s central core is hidden gem with its delightfully medieval building.

Stop 7Bled/Ljubljana

Slovenian Seaside Day Trip finishes in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.

Mamut picked us up at 8am. Visited Piran, Salt pans, Koper, Hrastovlje and castle/viewpoint Socerb.
All fantastic. But it was our tour guide, Mato who made this trip so memorable. His wide knowledge made this trip so much more rewarding. I strongly recommend Mamut Slovenia.
