Škocjan caves & Lipica Day Trip

Škocjan Caves & Lipica Day Trip begins in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.

The Lipica stud is one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments in Slovenia and is a home to nearly 400 Lipizzaners. With more than four centuries of tradition in this Karst landscape it is the oldest stud with unbroken horse breeding in the world.

Škocjan caves are still the only place in Slovenia and in the classical Karst on the list of Unesco World Heritage Sites and therefore have a special honorary place among natural monuments of the world.

Brkini are a hilly flysch island in the surrounding karst landscape. They border on Karst, the valley of river Reka and Matarsko valleys. They are 700 to 800 meters high, 25 km long, about 7 km wide and cover about 180 km2. There is some flysch terrain north and east of them. The hills are comprised of soft marl and sandstone with fertile soil good for orchards and vineyards.

The tourist farm Pri Damjanu is in the Slope village in the foothills of the westernmost slopes of Brkini. Here you will find homeliness, typical farm features, animals, kindness and of course the home cooked food.
At the tourist farm Pri Damjanu they will pamper us with tasting of typical local dishes of Karst-Brkini area. The farm offers stunning cured meats, mineštre (broth) and jota (broth), dishes from goat cheese and cottage cheese such as cheese pastry and strudel, seasonal wild asparagus and ceps, homemade fruit juice and excellent wine. Lunch is included in the price of the day trip.
