Radovljica is a medieval town with beautiful architecture and magnificent views of the Karavanke and the Julian Alps. It has a long tradition of beekeeping and chocolate making. We will have a walk thru the main street and then visit the beekeeping museum.
Beekeeping in Slovenia has a world renowned tradition. In the museum in Radovljica Manor there is an outstanding exhibition of almost 250 beehive panels all unique and hand-painted . The oldest known painted beehive panel, dating from 1758, is also on view. You will be able to see how the bees are taken care of, how they are living and how the honey is harvested. All in all the museum offers a great mix of history and practical demonstration of beekeeping.
