Winter Fairytale – Triglav National Park Half-Day Trip begins in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.
Our first stop will be wintery Bohinj Lake. With its 3,19 km2 is the largest permanent natural lake in Slovenija. It lies in Julian Alps at 526 meters above sea level between Pršivec to the North and Vogel to the South. This is one of the most beautiful lakes in Triglav National Park and during the winter time its usually frozen.
Savica waterfall is a karst fountainhead, and a creek which forms a delta at it’s flow into Bohinj lake. Savica waterfall is one of the most beautiful and renowned waterfalls with its romantic touch and historical significance. It is also one of the most visited waterfalls in Slovenia and in the Winter time its green coloured water stands out even more.
We will take a cable car up to Vogel ski resort at 1,535m which is usually packed with meters of snow and offers fantastic views of the Julian Alps and Bohinj Lake. This makes it ideal place for snowshoeing and other winter activities. After the snowshoeing we will make a stop in a mountain hut where you will be able to taste some pristine local dishes.
Pokljuka is a high wooded karst plateau in the Julian Alps. It is the largest wooded area in Triglav National Park. The hidden chasms, overgrown potholes, sinkholes and valleys are the result of the once existing Pokljuka glacier. We will explore the area while Snowshoeing.
Winter Fairytale – Triglav National Park Half-Day Trip finishes in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.
I would definitely recommend the ‘Winter Fairytale’ trip! We were so lucky we picked the only day it was snowing while we were in Slovenia! This winter vibe definitely added to the ‘fairytale’ feel!
Our guide Pimos was really friendly and knowledgeable about the are. He provided interesting details about the places we were visiting and made sure we got the as much as we could out of our day. On the trip we visited Triglav National Park with Lake Bohinj, Savica waterfall,Vogel, a very good lunch in a mountain hut, and then a hike up to Pokljuka plateau.
To sum it up I would definitely recommend Mamut company – all of the staff we were talking to were very friendly and professional. We will be biking more trips with them on our next trip in Slovenia. Thanks guys! ❤️
We had a wonderful trip into the Triglav National Park just before Christmas. We witnessed amazing scenery that is almost beyond belief. We had magnificent views of Julian Alps from snowy Vogel ski resort. Everything was even more special because of our our guide Primoz!
We took the Winter Fairytale Trip in early December. To start the day the weather was quite bad and really snowy so the walk up to the Savica waterfall was quite an adventure. But when we got to Lake Bohinj the skies cleared up and had a vey nice meal at a restaurant close to the lake. The view from Pokljuka plateau was amazing, too. We visited the Vogel ski centre that offers magnificent views. We have done some Snowshoeing up there which was very nice bonus to the trip. All in all it was a great day out!
Very nice scenery and views of Triglav Park. We really had a great time during the whole trip specially while Snowshoeing on Vogel mountain. The snowy scenery over the mountain was amazing as well as the view of Bohinj lake. Our guide was really friendly and professional.
