Itinerary

Stop 1Bled/Ljubljana

The trip begins in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.

Stop 2Kropa (walking tour and demonstration of forging culture in Vigenjcu Vice)

First stop of our Alpine Culture tour will be Kropa. Kropa is a village with a centuries-old fountain and forging culture. Because of its special urban architecture, technical, historical and culture monuments, it is one of the most important historical towns in Slovenia. In 1952, Kropa was proclaimed a Slovenian culture monument as the first town in Slovenia.

Stop 3Jamnik (walk to the church of St. Primož)

Church of St. Primož and Felicijan on the Jamnik is a special Slovenian culture monument because of its pictoresque location. It stands at the edge of the hill, which is the reason why it also served as a signalling station, visible throughout the entire Gorenjska Plain during the time of the Turkish invasions.

Stop 4Dražgoše (a monument to the victims and Stories of the Second World War with nice views)

Village Dražgoše is one of the blodiest battlefields of WW2 in the area. Battles were held here in January 1942. The former village church is famous for its rich carvings of Baroque altars, which are now exhibited in the Loški Museum.

Stop 5Škofja Loka (walk in the city and presentation of sights + Lunch)

Two valleys, three mountains, endless stories wrapped in river Sora. Locals deffinetly have a right to call Škofja Loka the ‘medieval beauty’. It is a completely preserved medieval city, which expresses its greatness from afar. Views of the compact red roofs that overlap the tranquil urban life hidden between century old thick walls will leave you breathless. Centre of the town is for shure one of a kind but its rich cultural and natural heritage is scattered throughout the Škofja Loka region. Škofja Loka region especially Železniki are well known for blacksmithing with its unique iron furnaces. Škofja Loka is an area where many painters and writers found the best inspiration for their creativity.

Stop 6Kranj (city tour)

In the past, the city was known as a lively center where diverse people and later nations from all over the world met. It has always been known as the economic, commercial, educational and transport center of Carniola. Among the medieval walls we recognize the most beautiful architectural example of this kind of urbanization. It lies on a strategic position, on a conglomerate hill between two rivers; Sava and Kokra. In addition, Kranj is the only city in Slovenia, from which you can have a view of three highest mountains of Slovenian Alps Triglav, Stol and Grintavec.

Stop 7Bled/Ljubljana

Alpine Culture Tour finishes in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.

Couple Traveller

This tour was lead by our guide Karin and she was truly great! The tour was amazing and I was blown away by all the incredible places Slovenia has to offer. We went to Skofja Loka, Kranj, Kropa, Brdo… Every place was different, charming and rich in history. The highlight was for sure the demonstration of how they forge nails in Kropa. We could also try to make them on our own.

This tour exceeded my expectations and was worth every penny!
