Day Trip to Logarska Valley begins in Bled/Ljubljana or any other arranged location.
According to an old folk tale, Vransko got its name from the bird vrana (crow). It is said there was a lake in the Vransko basin which was dug out and drained to build the settlement. There were flocks of crows converging on the lake and later marshes, so the settlement was named after them.
In the Upper Savinja valley you will experience the hospitality of nature and the people who have lived here for many generations. They respect the traditions and culture of our ancestors, farmers, foresters and raftsmen and they aspire to the better quality of life. The sustainable and eco-tourism are the directions which are more and more visible. Solčava region in the headwater region of Savinja was awarded the title of the European destination of excellence in 2009 for its achievements in sustainable tourism in protected areas.
Multipurpose centre for sustainable development of Solčava region includes a visitor’s information point with multipurpose auditorium. In the auditorium you can see multimedia presentations and a circular permanent exhibition about life and nature in Solčava region SOLČAVA REGION – A WALK INTO THE ARMS OF ALPS. On the ground floor there is a shop with products from Solčava and the surrounding region.
While roaming around the beautiful upper Savinjska valley we will try local delicacies at one of the local farms/restaurants.
Logarska valley is one of the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in Europe and cuts from the north into Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The Logarska valley Landscape Park is rich with different natural formations. The geological base, effects of glacier and other factors have created some wonderful images. And Logarska valley is the most beautiful of them. It is renowned for many waterfalls and many alpine flowers, some of them pretty rare or even endagered.
Logarska Valley is also home to the Rinka waterfall, the highest vertical waterfall in Slovenia. It collects water from Okrešelj and then runs over smaller rocky steps and rapids to the tectonic-glacial cliff where it plunges 90 meters deep into the pool under The Eagle Nest. Not far from there it disappears into the gravel deposit under Okrešelj. Because of its magnificence and height it was declared a natural monument in 1987.
The renowned Solčava panoramic road rises above Logarska valley and connects large mountain farms in Matkov kot with farms in the hamlet of Podolševa. There are some spectacular views of the Logarska valley and peaks of Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
Is a center of Community of Luče. It is situated in the deep and slightly widened valley of Savinja at the confluence with Lučnica which runs from the smaller valley of Podvolovljek. The village is interesting for tourists with some tourist farms, cultural and natural sites in the vicinity.
Kamnik is an old medieval town, rich with history and cultural heritage. It has a soul. Old Kamnik is an administrative, cultural, tourist and industrial centre under southern slopes of Kamnik Alps.
